Counselor's Corner
Educational Background I am a 1973 graduate of Tahlequah Senior High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
I earned my Bachelor degree in Education from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in December 1976, and participated in the May 1977 graduation exercises.
I earned my Master's Degree in Education with a Reading Specialist Certificate from Northeastern State University in July 1982.
I received my Counselor Certification in 1990.
I am currently working on my Administration Certification.
I have taught second, third, fifth, and sixth grade. I have been a Guidance Counselor since 1991.
My Philosophy of Administrative Education is based largely on the following ideas; loyalty, honesty, respect, fairness, dedication to duty, and teamwork. Treating my students and staff with respect and fairness is paramount in my philosophy of education. Honesty is the best policy when working with others and trying to instill values in our youth. An honest person can be trusted to handle difficult situations appropriately. The old adage ?treat others the way you want to be treated? rings more true today to me than ever before. We all want to be treated with respect and fairness; it helps make the working environment more productive and enjoyable. Respect and fairness promote loyalty within a system from the school board to the support staff, then spilling over into the community. I believe in always working to the best of my abilities and encouraging others in the process. Educators should lead the way in exemplifying the character traits we desire and demand of our students. I believe it is our job as educators to see that our youth are educated, tutored, and mentored with a healthy appreciation for work and continued learning, patriotism, responsibilities, and consequences. The school board, superintendent, administrators, teachers and personnel represent a team working together to achieve the same goal, to provide all members of the school community an environment that assures intellectual, social, physical, and character development appropriate for citizenship in an ever-changing world. I take great pride in being a member of this valuable team. Administrative Educational Philosophy
